Carer Support
Personal Support
The George Hardwick Foundation offer a range of support services to help carers and former carers who are struggling with their role.

We use both former carers, who are trained by us to bring their knowledge and experience of the role to help other carers, as well as qualified counsellors, or counsellors in training.

As with all of our Volunteers, they go through a stringent recruitment and selection procedure, including Criminal Records checks, before they begin working with our team.

Befriending & Mentoring
We have a befriending and mentoring service that can put you in touch with a carer who has been in a similar position to yourself and has been trained by The George Hardwick Foundation to give one to one support.
Please contact your nearest centre for more information.

Group Support
If you prefer to be part of a group, we have a growing number of small groups who like to meet regularly at the centre to share experiences, listen to guest speakers, or just have a cup of coffee and a bit of a break.

Please click here for more information and timetables.

Coping with bereavement,
loss and anticipatory grief

We have special help for carers facing loss or living with bereavement. There are regular courses where carers can learn more about the process of grieving and how to come to terms with loss, as well as individual appointments.

Please click here for more information.

Counselling
Many carers deal with a wide variety of stressful life situations. Our counsellors can help you develop effective coping skills. In addition, we hope to help you gain the problem-solving and decision-making skills necessary for effectively managing your life.

Please contact your nearest centre for more information – we will be more than happy to discuss this further with you in the strictest of confidence. If you are unable to speak in person, please do not hesitate to email Debbie@georgehardwickfoundation.org or send a letter marked FAO: Debbie Wilson to our head office in Stockton.
